English language challenges

In my opinion it wasn´t too difficult learn English at university. I could practice my pronunciation and learn about new words. I really enjoy talking in English because to me is funny speak with others specially in other language. About the use of blogs, they helped me to practice my writing and improve my communication, but sometimes I didn´t know what say hahaha. Reading blogs from my classmates helped me to practice my reading comprehension. Some of the aspects of my English that I want to improve are learn more words to speak fluently and write with more vocabulary. To do this, I want to watch as much movies or series in English with subtitles, as I can. I would like to start practice English with my best friend Antonia, because she has a good manage with the language. And finally, in my vacations I would like to read some books in English. Outside the English class, I don´t talk in English for example with my family or friends, but since I was 14 years old, I started to watch

Changes to my study program

There are some changes that I would like to make to my study program. First, in my opinion Social Justice is an important subject, but I think the teacher doesn´t relate the content with the reality, and that helps me to understand quickly and better. Second, in the context of lockdown, virtual classes have been hard for me. I must admit that the faculty has given to us flexibilities to make de tests, but the teachers still having too much workload. For students and professors this two years has been stressful and exhausting because it´s difficult to study and do housework at the same time. Third, I´ve never visited the university, but I would like to have the opportunity of study in a library and have classes in a big classroom. Also, I hope that the bathrooms were in good conditions because if we go to the university, they must consider all the sanitary measures for a safe return to the faculty. Postgraduate Studies

After I get my degree as a social worker, I would like to work in a school, foundation, and social institutions. I´ve been doing research and I´m interested in travel to Vancouver, Canada. The University of  British Columbia (UBC) offers me a  Master program that is focused on social work practice in the fields of child and family welfare, health and social care, and international and social development. I would like to learn about how developed countries work their public politics, children´s rights, racism, violence against women, among others.  Study in Vancouver will be one of my dreams, because I know that Canada receives many foreigners from all over the world. Study abroad will help me to develop my social skills and I would be truly happy meeting people from different countries and traditions. My future job

I´m in second year of social work and honestly, I don´t know how many things a social worker can do. But I´ve been thinking that I see myself in a school, because I like the environment, talk with people and I think I´m good at handling problems. Also, I´ve been thinking if I prefer an outdoor or indoor work, and I was thinking if I could work in both, because I would love to live in a rural area, with mountains around, lots of nature and pure air. So, I would like to work in a rural school, where I could work indoor with the students and the community and also being in my comfort zone surrounded by nature. Although I don’t think working in a school let me travel a lot, but I would love to travel around the world and do other stuffs related with my career, even if I couldn´t make too much money, I´ll do it. What´s like to study social work?

I´m in second year of social work and I chose this career because in 2019 I went to a religious camp, where with some friends visited the commune of Cerro Navia. We stayed in a school for two weeks and we went on mission to many houses in the commune. The experience of had met people that in my life I had known, was very emotional because the neighbors were very kind and humble with us. Those days marked my life and this experience helped me to choose which career I would study. Social work gives me all that I wanted, the opportunity of have connection with people and to change the vulnerability of systems.   Personally, has been hard to study online because is not what I expected about university. Study online is study all day, watch classes that I didn´t understood because of my bad internet, read a lot, do long essays, and in my "free time" clean the house. The pandemic

The pandemic has affected people in many ways, one of them is the stressed that provocates live in quarantine, limiting our social relationships and with the restriction of do not go outside if it´s not necessary. Another problem that people has going through this time, is that be locked up is exhausting, because it´s feels like every days is the same routine.  This pandemic has changed the way we live, and telecommuting is the new way of work. The only problem with this method is that requires internet connection and sometimes if this one is not working well, that could be an obstacle for people that must have meetings online for example. Also, a new habit that people has started to do almost every day, that perhaps they didn´t practice before with frequency are: cook and keep the spaces of the house clean and organized. Another changes that we´ve been doing this pandemic, is do or practice activities that distract us, like for example: practice yoga, meditate, watch a series, to kni

The best holidays ever

My best holidays ever were in the winter of 2018. I went to United States specifically to San Francisco and Las Vegas. We traveled for two weeks with my mother and my sister. First, we went to Las Vegas and we do many activities: we visited the gran Canyon, we eat in a famous restaurant called “Shake Shack” that serves delicious hamburgers, we attended to a cirque du soleil show, I went up to de roller coaster “The big Apple” and also, we went to many shopping stores. Then, when we went to San Francisco, we visited the golden gate, the Victorian and Edwardian houses, Fisherman’s wharf, Chinatown, Castro and Yosemite Park. This last attraction I think was the best of the whole trip, because we camped for 4 days in Yosemite, we met people for all over the world, we get connected with nature and I´d never camped before, so that was very excited for me. This whole trip was an incredible experience because was full of adventure and I get so connected with my mom and my sister.
